Five go to EMF Camp 2026

For our fifth year, employees and friends of Dogsbody Technology Ltd. have decamped to a field to attend Electromagnetic Field (EMF Camp). It’s an event we genuinely love and every year (despite only running every two years) it gets bigger and better. This year’s theme was Space.

So this year we had to up our game…But more on that later…..

This year featured more of, well, everything, than previous years with 684 sessions and activities in total. Including

28 DJ sets
11 films including early morning ones for the kids
71 performances
157 talks
175 workshops
141 installations

There were 155 villages across the site. DogsbodyHQ was our village, and this year we had a hugely successful sticker swap and rubber stamp station, as well as an ambitious installation.

The Dome

In 2024 we built a huge geodesic dome measuring 6m in diameter and 3.5m high. So, of course, the natural upgrade was to cover the entire thing in 130 metres of 5,000 individually addressable RGB LEDs for interactive lighting, patterns, games, and general tinkering!

Whilst the hardware was planned in advance, the coding for the lights was done on-site during the event – this is the way.

Volunteers

EMF Camp is run entirely by unpaid volunteers, including many of the attendees, purely for fun. EMFCamp 2026 took more than 8,000 volunteer hours to make happen over the weekend alone, all of us helped doing shifts as camera operators, stage lighting operators, staffing the entrance tent, and even working the night shift as fire wardens, given how dry the field was!

Talks

There was genuinely no way you could see everything. Luckily, around 90% of talks are recorded and can be found here. You can also see past years’ talks. The most popular talk was Break into Buildings with Boobs which, for the first time ever, was more popular than the Closing Ceremony.

Our 2024 reusable and upgradable Tildagon badge received the option of two paid, upgrades: a new Spaceagon frontboard kit and/or the Keyboard Hexpansion.

Surprisingly, our 2022 TiDAL badge also got an upgrade, after 4 years of development, and can now be upgraded into a hackable security dongle for logging into websites.
